5 More Nebraskans Have West Nile Virus

OMAHA, Neb. -- Five more cases of the West Nile virus have been reported in Nebraska, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.That brings the total number of human infections in the state to 10.The news cases are residents in Dodge, Cass, Saunders, Adams and Platte counties.
In 2007, 264 cases of the virus were reported, according to the DHHS.Late August is peak transmission time for the virus and September is when most cases are reported.Fewer than one out of 150 people who get infected become seriously ill, according to the DHHS.
