OMAHA, Neb. -- The Des Moines man accused of killing his wife and neighbor and then shooting at police as they stormed his house appeared in court Friday.Nath Inthabolin, 30, of Des Moines is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Bounpanh Xayavongchanh and Amalia Vasquez, according to station KCCI in Des Moines.Inthabolin is also charged with two counts of attempted murder on accusations of firing at officers as they stormed his house to rescue his three children whom he was holding hostage.
KCCI reported that police said Vasquez was apparently driving down the street at the time of the shooting, stopped and called out to the gunman who then fired a shot at her.She then drove away at a high rate of speed and hit the utility pole, suffering from the gunshot wound."She was able to drive away," said police spokesman Sgt. Vince . "But of course being shot, she was obviously dying as she was driving away."Following the shootings, police said Inthabolin went back inside the home at 3616 Columbia St. where he and Xayavongchanh lived, KCCI reported. When police approached the house they could see him inside holding a gun.
