OMAHA, Neb. -- A 3-year-old boy was rescued from Gallagher Pool on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses said the boy was at the pool, near 52nd Street and Northwest Radial Highway, with his father. When the man turned his back, the boy jumped in, witnesses said.

Lifeguards pulled the boy to safety in under 30 seconds.

"They had him on his side and it looked like he was unconscious for a little while," said witness Ron Gerbais. "He kind of started kicking. But they did an excellent job. It makes you feel very safe to come to this pool and know the staff is trained so well and you can feel safe with your family."

The child was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.
