Charges Refiled Against Murder Suspect; No Bond Set

POSTED: 11:25 am CDT June 20, 2008
UPDATED: 3:56 pm CDT June 20, 2008

An Omaha man accused of shooting and killing a woman was held without bond on Friday afternoon.

Charges were dropped against Derrick West-Jones on Wednesday. But first-degree murder charges were refiled before he was released from jail.

West-Jones is accused of killing Kathleen Jackson, 20, of Omaha.

In court Wednesday, a judge said there wasn't enough evidence to prove that West-Jones fired the shot that killed Jackson.

In 2005, West-Jones was charged in the killing of Wesley Carter, but that case ended with a hung jury.
