UNO Students Recruit Organ Donors

UPDATED: 5:42 pm CDT April 8, 2008

Student volunteers tried to sign up organ donors at the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday.

Every 11 minutes, another name is added to the list of Americans who need an organ transplant.

Three campus organizations were involved in getting the word out that more people need to be organ donors.

"We're trying to get 200 donors signed up," said student Keegan Neiderdeppe. "Another part of that is to really communicate the message that they need to let their families know that they want to be an organ donor."

Volunteers passed out goodie bags and information on organ and tissue donation at the event.
