OMAHA, Neb. -- The last of the Von Maur shooting survivors left the hospital Monday.Mickey Oldham was discharged from a rehabilitation program at Omaha's Immanuel Medical Center after a month of treatment.Oldham was working at Von Maur department store on Dec. 5, when she was shot by a sniper who killed eight people before taking his own life.
Oldham was shot in the abdomen and back. She spent one month at Creighton University Medical Center before she was transferred to Immanuel for extensive therapy.Oldham, through her son Mike, issued this statement:"How do you go about thanking everyone for their support, good wishes and prayers?I feel so much gratitude and appreciation toward my family during this tragedy. They have truly been there 24/7 with me. My heart goes out to all of the people who were affected by this horrific event. The Von Maur family has been a tremendous support during this life changing experience. The paramedics, firefighters and police officers, were unparalleled at how they took care of this crisis. Dr. Sykes and his staff at Creighton University Medical center were outstanding.Words cannot express my gratitude to them for saving my life. The ICU and the 4th floor nursing staff (at CUMC) were God's angels in my recovery.Select Specialty hospital on Immanuel's 7th floor helped me on my journey home. They are truly amazing and will make the transition easier. My path to recovery would not be possible without my family, friends and all the wonderful men and women who provided comfort care and support. In closing, I truly believe my life was and is in God's hands. He must have big plans for me."Mike Oldham said his mother is a very private person and she did not wish to be contacted by the media for further comment.
