A 14-year-old boy's attorney asked a judge on Friday to move his client's case to juvenile court and throw out some evidence.

Judge Russel Derr heard arguments in the case against Jordan Goodwin.

Michael Coleman, 19, and Goodwin, 14, are facing murder and weapons charges in the death of Alazia Alford. In Douglas County Court in October, the state presented its case against Coleman, saying he was driving near 16th and Wirt streets on Friday. Prosecutors said he blocked in a vehicle that had Alazia and two other women inside. After an argument, the attorneys said, both Coleman and Goodwin got out of the car and began shooting.

Coleman took off in the car while Goodwin fled on foot before both later turned themselves in, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said both Coleman and Goodwin fired shots, but witnesses said Goodwin fired the deadly shots.

On Friday, Derr took the requests in the case under advisement and asked both sides to present additional written briefs. The judge will issue a written order in about 10 days.

The Judge will also have to either issue a written order or hold a public hearing on the motion to suppress the confession, again expect that to take at least 10 days.

Goodwin's grandmother said after the hearing that investigators have the case against her grandson all wrong.
