UPDATED: 8:50 am CST January 17, 2008

The city of Omaha will be paying former Fire Chief Robert Dahlquist more than $107,000 a year as part of his pension.

According to the city's finance director, that is the largest pension in the city's history.

The Police and Fire Pension Board is expected to sign off on the retirement package on Thursday.

Dahlquist announced his retirement last month.

Under his pension, he will also not have to pay health insurance premiums for city coverage until he becomes eligible for Medicare.

Dahlquist is 49.
