The Elkhorn River has an ice jam three miles long south of West Point on Friday, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

A flood warning is in effect in the area until 9 p.m. Friday, and some flooding was reported in low spots in Cuming and Stanton counties.

Another ice jam east of Wisner was estimated to be two miles long.

Cuming County Emergency Management officials said about 1,000 acres of agricultural land was underwater on Friday.

Closer to the Omaha metro area, most Sarpy County residents who were evacuated from the Platte and Elkhorn rivers' floodplains on Thursday night were allowed back into their homes on Friday morning.

Some hunters told KETV NewsWatch 7 that their duck blinds has washed away, but were later found. The blinds can cost $1,500.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Department said the water rose very quickly.

Residents along the rivers said they were glad officials had sounded the alarm about flooding early on Thursday.

A winter storm watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night in Douglas and surrounding counties. Rain is expected to change to snow over eastern Nebraska late Saturday afternoon. There could be a transition period where sleet may develop before changing to all snow, the National Weather Service said. Snow, heavy at times, is expected Saturday night before tapering to flurries during the day Sunday. Total snowfall accumulation of 6 inches or more is possible from this storm.
